Million Mile Club Honorees
Woodfield—not a name that brings to mind a trucking company, but in the
small town of Camden, Arkansas, people are proud to see the white trucks
with the distinctive stripe along the highways.
Friends have mentioned having seen a Woodfield truck pass behind
the meteorologist on location in the northwest on the Weather Channel.
This is what makes a small town company feel like home.
When a driver wants to experience the feelings of small company atmosphere,
they want to drive for Woodfield. Here
a driver has a name, a family, a hobby; he/she is not just a truck number.
This feeling is why Woodfield has honored 7 drivers for achieving
1,000,000 miles. And more
drivers will be reaching this mark within the very near future. Woodfield
drivers are men and women who have families and friends who see them each
week at home.
Woodfield is a well-known company in south Arkansas and was recognized with
the Sam Walton Business Leadership Award in 2003. The company owned by Jimmy and Kathy Starr began in 1993 with
one truck and now operates 110 trucks with 137 employees. A 48-state and Canada operation, Woodfield trucks service
local Arkansas businesses such as Arquest, Cooper Tire, and Georgia
Pacific. One of the main
objectives at Woodfield is driver home-time.
Once a driver experiences this type of company, the miles add up.
Just ask James Buffington, Knight Rider.
He has been a driver for Woodfield for over 8 years.
He treats his rig as if it were his own and takes great pride in
the service he provides to the company and the communities he delivers
products to. Then talk to
Earl Green, Bandit, who happens to be James’ brother.
A practicing preacher and a leader of the youth of his small community. He will tell you that he loves the family atmosphere of
Woodfield. Sam Henderson,
also known as Iceman, appreciates the million miles he has driven for the
Starr’s and that he values their commitment to safety on the highways. James Jones, 4 Decker, always has a smile on his face and an
innovative idea up his sleeve. Some
way to help his fellow Woodfield drivers to feel a part of the team.
Paul Askew, Goldpocket, values the opportunity to run team with his
new wife, Annette. They share with other drivers the benefits of working in a
place that knows you as an individual.
When David Jackson, Drifter, expresses his view of Woodfield, you
see the sincerity in the twinkling of his eyes.
Always good natured, he has spent many years at Woodfield and has
become part of the family. James
Franklin, better known as Airbrush; who
doesn’t know Airbrush? You mention his name to
any driver in the fleet and they know him. Airbrush has been known to help
others on the highway and never even shared his name.
These are the million mile club drivers of
Woodfield. We, your
co-workers, friends, and families, salute you!
